In addition to buying in-game cash and the Cover replenish option with Station Cash, you can also buy a package deal called a Dead Drop. There are also achievements for specific activities such as completing a mission every day for an entire year. These can be gained from doing what you normally would do in the game like running missions, gaining in-game cash and leveling. They reward in-game cash and experience for you.Īchievements have also been introduced to the game. They take a set amount of time and when they are done, your must extract your group out to be able to use them again. The group missions can be started and run in the background without any further involvement by you. Group missions are offered to you and can be run by forming a group composed of either NPC agents and/or Facebook friends who play the game. Pop ups provide a tutorial to walk you through the gameplay flow and videos explain minigame play. Every mission requires a certain amount of Cover to complete and when you run out of Cover, you need to allow it to replenish over time or buy more through a microtransaction store. Rewards include in-game cash, experience for your character and components to build better equipment. The missions follow a storyline and some of them are accomplished simply by having the correct resources needed, others require you to complete a minigame.
The core of the game is leveling your spy via missions. However it does provide light entertainment for those who enjoy the spy genre and has the same tone and feel of their upcoming MMO title. There is no real time interaction with other players, for example. Though Covert Ops is a Facebook app based on an MMO, it's not an MMO itself. Though it's not quite ready to launch yet, SOE has surprised us this week with a Facebook gaming app, The Agency: Covert Ops.
